Dear LBC Foundation,
On behalf of NANAY, Inc. and ACE-International Philippines, I would like to express my sincere gratitude for all the support and the free Balikbayan boxes that you and LBC Foundation had given us last year, in connection with our projects to help the Philippine Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL).
On June 8, 2006, 10 boxes containing computers, monitors, towels and soaps for the CICL project were shipped to the Philippines through the courtesy of LBC Foundation.
These were in addition to the four Pentium 3 computers that were sent in February and received in March. The latest batch of computers were also delivered last December, through the courtecsy of LBC Foundation.
The computers and monitors were generously donated by CNET Networks, a major media establishment based in San Francisco (thanks to the intervention of Cecille Hontiveros.
The judges who received the computers were all Family Court Judges in charge of hearing cases involving CICL.
One of our recipients, Judge Nimfa Vilches, recently received the judicial excellence award for services and time devoted to the protection of children (in conflict with the law), and has written to us expressing her gratitude for receiving the computers.
Advocates for Children and Elders International (ACE International) is a global network of individuals and leaders interested in protecting the human rights and improving the lives of Philippine elders and youth, including, but not limited to Children In Conflict with the Law (CICL).
Much of these accomplishments (Editor's note: Detailed reports from ACE chapters were edited out due to space constraints in this page.
Accomplishments that included a Comprehensive Feeding Program, launched last January 29, at ten barangays in Cagayan de Oro) would not have been possible without the generosity and help of civic-oriented organizations such as LBC Foundation.
And for these, we are grateful. Your donation has gone a long way in improving the lives of these unfortunate children.
Cecille Hontiveros from C-NET has informed me that at least 10 additional computers might be available in April that we can send to ACE-International, so that they can start a computer training program for CICL at CRADLE.
In this regard, donations of Balikbayan boxes, as you so generously have given before, will be extremely helpful in enabling ACE International to continue serving our children in the Philippines.
As you know, ACE International does not have enough resources to pay for shipping of these computers.
I hope you can again extend your help to us. Please take care, and thanks for caring.
Sincerely,
Jocelyn H. Bruce, M.D.
